AMBER BUTLER X ASPIRE TO INSPIRE

Aspire to Inspire is a local learning provision which works with girls aged 13-16, they are committed to the development of young females across Bedfordshire, they offer an alternative education and also a 1:1 form of mentoring.

I was asked to give a presentation and explain some of my most recent projects, I also did some fun exercises to get the girls feeling creative and experimenting with the mediums that I use. At the end of the workshop they created a collaborated piece in which they painted on a large fabric canvas, They made stencils and each took a section to work on. This workshop was extremely successful and so we decided to create another for the girls to do that runs alongside some of the things they’ve been learning in class which would result in a final piece. Isolation & Loneliness was the chosen theme. We structured this project in a way that once the girls had completed it, it would fulfil the outcomes for an AQA award. The final product would be a tote bag in which they would use as a canvas to express the theme in whatever way they wanted.
